About the book: Chek Chek wants to get married, but first she needs the right accessories. This inventive little frog fashions a ring from a leaf, a dress from a flower, and a crown from soap suds. Now, all that is missing is the groom! Realising that she is still too young to commit herself to marriage, Chek Chek opts to go to school instead.

With minimal text this book brings us into the world of the charismatic little frog, Chek Chek. Created from clay modeling, Chek Chek’s world combines common natural settings with crafted props which have been photographed by the creators. As Chek Chek interacts with the world around her she appears in a variety of poses and placements making each page a surprise. This approach is a first in Cambodian illustrated books for children and it effectively joins a traditional setting with an innovative technique. In a book which is both simple and sophisticated, this team of illustrators has created a very engaging protagonist who has the potential to become a firm and loveable favorite in Cambodian children’s books.
