International Children’s Book Day 2015

On April 4th IBBY Cambodia hosted the third national celebration of International Children’s Book Day in Cambodia at the National Library in Phnom Penh. Approximately 700 visitors including schools, families, and education professionals joined this annual celebration of books and reading.

Exhibitors from the publishing sector, NGOs, retailers, and schools entertained visitors with reading and creative activities. These included: Room to Read, Comic Arts, Domrei Sor, Sipar, SVA, Open Book, Save the Children, ACE, Monument Books and Toys.

Children from the American Intercon School (AIIS) performed short plays based on characters from stories and books. There were storytelling sessions and SVA performed Kamishibai stories. Free reading books and activities were also hosted by exhibitors and visitors to the event. The day was closed with a ‘flashmob’ dance performance by students from iCAN school. The activities were hosted by a local TV personality and a team from CNC visited the event and filmed activities.

The International Children’s Book Day poster was designed by UAE IBBY featuring the work of illustrator Nasim Abaeain.
